When you arrived into this world, you already defied odds of 40 TRILLION to 1 that you were even born, as you are, with your ancestors, genes and to your parents. Although there are 7 Billion people on planet Earth, each one, it could be said, has already made a journey on a Road Less Travelled. And it is only then that their dramatic life adventure truly begins. This tune is very dramatic and aims to portray the moments before, during and after the Arrival of a new-born.
Every person who arrives on Earth is made up of about 12% carbon. This carbon is the same material that comes from the stars in the sky. One such star is Dubhe which is the brightest star in "The Plough" (Big Dipper in US/Canada), in the constellation Ursa Major. Stibbiegill Head is a hill in South of Scotland. Each fragment of light leaves Dubhe and travels through space, past galaxies, stars and planets for 123 Earth years before finally reaching Earth itself. I was looking at Stibbiegill Head imagining the light's entire journey before it finally crashes into it and splinters into a thousand tiny shards. We are part of Nature and Nature is part of us. The music cascades through space and time passing through a series of sights and sounds until finally crashing and shattering in front of us.
Of course, people's lives do not go perfectly well here on Earth. Some people have survived exceptional circumstances, experiences or illnesses They may have been to "the edge" and come back. Their unique path, fighting through and emerging from the fire shapes them and can truly be considered the Road Less Travelled. I believe these people's stories should inspire us. This is probably the biggest melody on the EP; it is rich and victorious as are the people who pull themselves from the fire.
A reminder that all our lives, all we know, all we do, everything we create, everything we destroy, all our history, knowledge, culture and consciousness, all the consequences of our decisions and all the paths we take, exist together, all under the same sky. The music here helps us to reflect and relax, acknowledging and accepting all the cultural differences between us while ultimately we all remain human.
The most difficult journey for all of us is the spiritual journey inside and how we grapple with what happens after life. Pythagoras wrote, “...know thyself; then thou shalt know the Universe and God.” Many people never make this spiritual journey. This, and the path we travel at the end is another Road Less Travelled.
